Description
Respiration is a suspended sculpture made of black lacquered wire, created through a process of transforming sound into form.
At the origin of this piece lies a single word — respiration — spoken by myself, recorded, and then transformed into a sound wave. This waveform, once stretched and reworked digitally, became the basis for a drawing, which was then transposed into space through the hand-weaving of wire. When suspended, the sculpture’s fine, taut form evokes a line of sound, like a breath stretching through space.
With this work, I question the relationship between sound and matter, giving body to a word in a fragile, vibrant form.
