Vibre

Description

Vibre! is a suspended wire sculpture, the result of a process that translates sound into form. At the origin of this piece is a word—the word “Vibre”—spoken by me, recorded, and then transformed into a sound wave. This signal, stretched and digitally reshaped, becomes the starting point for a drawing, and then for a hand-woven form.
Suspended, the sculpture’s slender, taut form evokes a breath stretching out into space.
Through this work, I explore the relationship between sound and matter by giving substance to a word in a fragile, vibrating form.
