Description
Silence is a suspended sculpture made of black lacquered wire, created through a process of translating sound into form.
At the origin of this piece is a word — Silence — spoken by myself, recorded, and then transformed into a sound wave. This signal, once stretched and reworked, becomes the starting point for a drawing, and then for a hand-woven volume.
When suspended, the sculpture takes on a slender, taut shape that evokes a sound line, like a breath flowing from top to bottom or vice versa.
This series explores the relationship between language and material, quite literally giving physical body to a word in a fragile and vibrant form.
